Lars MikkelsenAt the age of 27, he was enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark where he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his role in the drama series aired worldwide as The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other internationally highly acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He also played a prominent part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In American television show House of Cards, his character was the president of Russia. He won an International Emmy Award for 2018 for his role on the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. It was shown in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen is proficient in English, Swedish and German. He also has different accents. He has stated that both he and his brother began to learn English by listening to Monty Python records and learning the comedy sketches
